If you look at many of the pieces of sacred art based around Devotees, from our resident artist, Bodhicypha, you can very clearly see a metaphor or allegory within that lack of personal identity, and that there is some form of a shared or common goal of many aspiring spiritualists; that goal is to achieve a higher consciousness while discarding any resemblance of a persona while doing so. This is what Bodhicypha is attempting to convey when they showcase Devotees without a face, or obscured by a veil. It is not to say that we should all abandon our identities while pursuing a deeper spiritual connection to our higher consciousness; Rather simply, the implication is that our identities or what we believe our identity to be, is not necessarily important on the road to self-discovery.
